Good morning!
Here’s Asia AI News for Wednesday!
Top US and Chinese negotiators had a phone call yesterday to review outstanding issues for the phase one trade deal.
Markets and media are naturally a little weary of the interpreting the mixed signals coming from both sides of the negotiating table, with the dollar and the oil price rising and Asian markets not sure what to do. Meanwhile, former chief economist for Morgan Stanley Stephen Roach joins other experts in warning against optimistic expectations for future US-China trade relations.
Also see below for a few bits of startup news, including Taiwan’s martech startup Appier, which has closed its Series D funding round at $80 million.
Lastly, the government of India has launched CodeIndia, a training programme to teach school students programming skills. The course will be delivered by a group of specialists, while students will get to interact with experts from organisations like Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire (CERN), Geneva, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University and others.
