Good morning,
Here’s your Saturday edition of Asia AI News!
Scroll down for commentary on India’s Union Budget, updates on AI’s role in fighting the coronavirus, Sony’s fund managing cyberhound and analysis on the UK’s decision to allow a limited role for Huawei in Britain’s 5G build-out.
The Indian tech sector has high hopes for the Union Budget 2020-2021, which will be presented today by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. If you’re following this story, you can watch the Minister’s budget speech live at 9.30am Delhi time (12 noon Singapore) on the government Public Information Bureau Youtube channel. Indian media such as Times of India and The Hindu, of course, have their own Union Budget coverage.
Now, I have a couple of announcements!
Firstly, this will be the last regular Saturday edition of the newsletter. Based on the volume of content and readership habits over the past few months, I’ve decided to focus on 5 daily week-day editions of Asia AI News (Monday to Friday) and basically ditch Saturday’s newsletter. However, in the case of special events or particularly important breaking news, I’ll keep the option open to send out a special Saturday editions, as the need arises.
I’m also going to start a weekly Middle East AI News starting next Thursday 6 February. I’ve been thinking about this for some time, since the number of government AI initiatives, AI-related startup programmes and AI startups in the region is definitely on the rise! Note that if you’d like to receive the weekly Middle East newsletter, you’ll need to sign-up.
Have a great weekend!
