Good morning, Here’s your Friday edition of Asia AI News! A big announcement from the Middle East this week. The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) announced MoUs with IBM, Alibaba and Huawei on Thursday, following the launch of the Gulf Kingdom’s National Strategy for Data & AI (NSDAI) at the Global AI Summit. Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s top 20 economies and currently has the G20 presidency for 2020. The deal with Alibaba Cloud is designed to “empower Saudi cities with intelligence-driven smart city solutions.” Meanwhile, the agreement signed with Huawei relates to the development of AI systems for the Arabic language. The Huawei deal has already prompted speculation as to the reaction of the U.S., a strong ally of Saudi Arabia, in light of the Trump administration’s efforts to stop allies doing business with Huawei. Scroll down for this news and more! Stay safe & have a great weekend! /Carrington
