Good morning, Here’s your Tuesday edition of Asia AI News!
Asia House hosted some interesting discussion yesterday in its Global Trade Dialogues virtual conference. Nadiem Makarim, Indonesia’s minister of education and culture and Gojek founder providing insights on the country’s plans to leverage technology for education. Makarim stated the need for Indonesia’s government to move fast to create new initiatives and to accelerate the unbundling of education. Key to Indonesia’s need to develop new digital talent will be the roll-out of Internet infrastructure across the archipelago, enabling the technology industry as partners in education and transforming the tertiary education system to embrace more real-world experience. The minister also made the interesting point that, despite reports that it is in danger of running out of unicorns, we can expect to see more unicorns from Indonesia. Makarim cited Indonesia’s huge population (278m) as a core strength, because big countries offer new ventures the opportunity to scale. Scroll down for news on R&D, autonomous vehicles, smart cities, entertainment, drones, plus the adding of four new firms to the US ‘communist Chinese military companies’ list. Have a great day, Carrington
