Good morning,
Here’s your Tuesday edition of Asia AI News!
The biggest story over the past 24 hours is probably that China has reportedly ordered all foreign computer hardware and operating systems to be replaced in the next three years. Apparently, the ‘3-5-2’ directive was issued to government departments in the spring, but it remained secret until the past week when details were leaked to the Financial Times.
Other stories in today’s newsletter include Tamil Nadu state plans to teach AI in government schools from 2020; China’s goal for 30% of all car sales to be sales of autonomous vehicles by 2025; mosquito killing drones in Hyderabad; and EU firms say that the US-China trade war has failed to force firms out of China.
Lastly, if you’ve been following the announcements made in Singapore last month regarding the city-state’s updated National AI Strategy, you might like to know that the updated strategy documents are now available as PDFs via the Smart Nation Singapore website.
Have a good day!
